What is teeth whitening

Teeth whitening is the process of removing discolouration from teeth. The structure of teeth allows for staining to build-up deep inside our teeth, and this makes our teeth appear dark or discoloured. Teeth whitening works to dissolve the bonds within these stains, effectively whitening and brightening your teeth.

Diets which include coffee, tea, foods such as curry, and smoking will cause discolouration of teeth.

To effectively whiten teeth, typically, high concentrations of hydrogen/carbamide peroxide are required. In Australia, only dentists are legally able to supply the public with the most effective concentrations of teeth whitening solutions.

It is important to note that long-term teeth whitening results are achieved only where touch-up teeth whitening kits are provided.
