What is the process for porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are a conservative, yet effective, dental treatment, meaning that when planned properly, the biologic cost on our teeth is minimal and the involved treatment is quick and convenient.

This is guaranteed at Smile Artistry by our planning process, which provides our dentists with a "Diagnostic Wax-up" - a new mould of the shapes the final teeth will appear after your teeth veneers have been completed. You will be shown this "Diagnostic Wax-up" of the final proposed shape of teeth, even before your porcelain veneer treatment is started!

At the first visit your teeth are prepared, so that there is a thin space for the Porcelain Veneer to fit over the front of your teeth. A super-accurate impression is taken and 'temporary', provisional veneers are constructed. The shape of the provisional veneers is created from the "Diagnostic Wax-up" and over the following week a trial of the new proposed teeth shapes is assessed.

Once both the dentist and patient are happy with the new shapes, your personal dental technician will artistically copy and create your new teeth veneers.

At the second visit, about two weeks later, the provisional veneers will be swapped for your new permanent porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers are bonded permanently to your teeth and will become the tooth's outer layer. Porcelain veneers should not ever come away from your teeth. If porcelain veneers do come loose, their construction or shape has not been properly analysed and you should seek urgent dental treatment!
